.

.
Oh you don't want hear about that and I should quit stalling?
.
But she is soooo fine...oh Gosh...
.
Sigh...Okay before you mishandle me...
.
Ahem...
.
The Wedding Party 2 wassssssss... okay. I didn't find it as terrible as some reviews made it out to be. It had quite a few strong performances. It lwas shot beautifully and was bustling with energy but all in all it was just okay. Typical sequel. More of the same just not as fresh
.
You should all know the plot by now if you have seen the trailer but for those who haven't, here is a brief rundown.
.
So you remember Nonso Onwuka (Enyinna Nwigwe) and Deidre Winston (Daniella Down)? Well 8 or so months after the events of the first movie, they are getting along splendidly. So splendidly in fact that on a trip to Dubai and while having dinner at a swanky restaurant, Deidre is convinced that Nonso is about to pop the question. Nonso has no intention of doing so (he wouldn't be caught dead proposing in a public place) but by a series of highly unlikely coincidences he ends up on one knee with a diamond ring in his hand and confused look on his face as Deidre excitedly tells him "YES!"
.
Needless to say, their respective families are rather nonplussed about the announcement, especially Deidre's father Geoffrey (played superbly by Michael D Pinna) but being mature folk, they decide that since the kids appear to be happy, they are down for it and all anticipate beautiful and smooth wedding proceedings.
.
For where?!
.
Now like I said, this wasn't a bad movie. It was just okay. It was in no way terrible and had great performances. Sola Sobowale was magnificent here. Much like in the first one, I feel she stole the show. Michael D Pinna was great. Banky Wellington, Adesua, Ireti Doyle and pretty much all the cast were in fine form with the exception being Patience Ozokwor. Patience is an awesome actress but honestly she did not add much to this movie. I'm guessing she was supposed to bring the much needed conflict but it was superficial at best. So all in all, great performances from the cast and oooh I particularly liked the lady who played the frenzied harried wedding planner. Wouldn't mind a spinoff with her front and centre prom party dresses for senior students
.
The plot though wasn't anything to write home about as let's be honest everything could easily have been cleared with a simple explanation from the beginning and most of the cameos didnt really work. Chigurl and Seyi Law were fine but AY, Wofaida and Saka really could have been cut out with no consequence.
.
As for the laughs they really weren't many. A lot of the drinks are less LMAO and more SALTS (Smiled a little then stopped). You are unlikely to fracture a rib in this movie.
.
Also some of the scene transitions were a bit awkward and there were two times the camera work was clearly somebody walking forward with the camera in their hands.
.
So the Wedding Party 2 was just an okay sequel. Was it unnecessary? I wouldn't say that but it won't leave you with any "moments" like the last one did. Heck I still go to YouTube to watch Sola Sobowale's EPIC dance into the hall from part 1. No such moments here i'm afraid
.
So if you really loved the first one and you are desperate for more, then by all means give this a go. If you have 2,000-2500 Naira that you are not using and want to blow 1hour 40 minutes, then try this and if like me you are down to see Daniella Down's gorgeous face and smile then PLEASE give this a watch
.
Dat lady fine
.
Oh and Wedding Party 3 is going to happen. No prizes as to who the couple will be either :)
