Give this incredible young man a hand! He invited a girl to prom AND made her dress too. His story is bound to make you smile.

Jimelle Levon hasn’t had it easy growing up. When he was in fifth grade, he and his mother were relegated to living in a homeless shelter. This didn’t sour Jimelle, it lit a fire in him. He knew the only way to better his life was through hard work. By sixth grade, he was already a young enterprising mind.

“Me and my mother lived in a shelter before when I was in fifth grade. From there on, once I hit sixth grade, I was always a hard worker, either shoveling the snow or anything to gain money because I didn’t want to be in the predicament anymore.”

Now at 18, Jimelle has carved a bright future for himself by making handmade prom dresses. The high school senior even made his prom date’s dress. Jimelle began sewing when he was 14 years old, and he converted his small bedroom into his “Sewing Lab.” Each year, he sells three or four custom-made dresses during prom season. He sells the spectacular and elaborate gowns from $300 to $450. black girl prom dresses

Each dress is handcrafted and made especially for his customers. From sparkling mermaid dresses to simple monotone gowns, every dress is one of a kind. The teen who once worked two jobs was able to quit both to work on his own business full-time. Next fall, he’ll be attending Clark Atlanta University to study business and fashion — something he clearly already knows plenty about!
